Launch of the Digital Building Application project
On Thursday 3 March 2011, on the occasion of Batibouw, Flemish Ministers Philippe Muyters and Geert Bourgeois, respectively responsible for Spatial Planning and Administrative Affairs, presented the Digital Building Application project. This digital window will make it possible to submit a building application rapidly and safely. Not only citizens and companies will benefit from this, the authorities concerned will also be able to work more efficiently.

Numerous e-government building blocks will be used in this project:
- The MAGDA platform for the exchange of information between all parties concerned;
- Access management (ACM) and user management (IDM) for a safe log-in process by citizens, architects and authorities;
- The digital signing platform for signing plans and documents;
- Geographic information systems from the e-government and ICT-Management entity (e-IB) and the Spatial Planning, Housing Policy and Immovable Heritage Department (RWO).
Thanks to the digital version of the application, all bodies concerned will be able to issue their advice more rapidly, and in a cheaper and simpler manner. The applicant can follow up his/her file at any moment, until the final decision. The digital building application project is a state-of-the-art project, which uses the various generic ICT-technical components and makes them cooperate. Moreover, the information regarding building permits is stored at a central location, which in time creates an authentic data source.
