eGovernment in the european institutions

The most important eGovernment organizations in the European institutions are eGovernment Research & Development, IDABC and the good practice website.

eGovernment Research & Development

eGovernment research & development is the European portal on eGovernment. On this website you will find information on eGovernment in the EU, as well as information on research, trendswatch, studies, a summary of projects and success stories, conferences, awards, events, invitations, and an interesting e-library.

IDABC is a European programme which focuses on encouraging cross-border services for citizens and businesses and is aimed at cooperation between European governments. You can find information on the IDABC-programme, the various projects on this site. It also devotes detailed attention to e-procurement and the ‘Your Europe’ portal, where citizens and businesses can connect to the necessary information for cross-border activities, such as, for example, information related to moving house, going to school in different countries, tax laws and so on.

The ‘eGovernment Observatory’ forms an important part of the site. It contains both a news summary and the extremely interesting ‘eGovernment fact sheets’ (per country) and document libraries. It also devotes attention to ‘case studies’, publications and  events.

The site also contains an Open Source Observatory’. This alsodevotes attention to news reports, document libraries, publications and  events. It also devotes attention to software taxonomy.

The website devotes detailed attention to reusable tools. Obviously it also devotes attention to its own events.
